SUTHERLAND SPRINGS

A tentative multi-million dollar civil settlement has been reached between the Department of Justice and victims of the Sutherland Springs shooting. The incident happened at a central Texas church in 2017. NBC 5’s Sophia Beausoleil reports.

The Department of Justice has tentatively agreed to pay $144.5 million to settle civil cases tied to the 2017 massacre in Sutherland Springs, Texas.

The U.S. Air Force must pay more than $230 million in damages to survivors and victims’ families of the 2017 Sutherland Spring church massacre for failing to flag a conviction that might have kept the gunman from legally buying the weapon used in the shooting.
